8-Fights Official for July 20 (updated)
Recently Legacy Boxing Promotions announced Boxing would be returning to Tingley Coliseum July 20th. More details have been revealed including who’ll be facing Josh “Pitbull” Torres in the night’s championship main event.
The Albuquerque native will take on Tucson, Arizona’s, Alfonso Olvera, with a WBC Welterweight Silver Latino title up for grabs. Torres the New Mexico State Welterweight champion has once before held a WBC belt and is currently on a 5-fight win streak, all 5 by knockout. Olvera has gone 3-1-1 in his last 5-fights, most recently fighting Herbert Acevedo to a draw, at the end of March.
The co-main event is also at Welterweight with Albuquerque’s own Matthew “Papitas” Esquibel squaring off with El Paso’s, Tx, Issac Luna. At the last Legacy Boxing event Expo Explosion 3, “Papitas” bettered Willie Villanueva in a much-anticipated local collision. Luna has fought twice for Legacy Boxing Promotions beating Brandon Trujillo & Ronnie Baca, both by decision. Olvera is the taller fighter and has scored nearly two-thirds of his wins by decision.
