UFC Mexico gets Moreno vs Erceg headliner
The UFC will return to Mexico in late March with a Fight Night that the internet says will be topped by a showdown between ranked Flyweights.
The world famous octagon will be back in Mexico City at the Arena CDMX on March 28th. The rumored main event will see former Flyweight champion and number two ranked contender Brandon Moreno will face off with Australia’ number ranked Steve Erceg.
After consecutive split decision loss to Alexandre Pantoja & Brandon Royval, Brandon Moreno was left searching for himself. Moreno had spent the previous three years in a tug or war with Deiveson Figuueirdo over who ran the division. The Assassin Baby” found his groove and stunted all over Amir Albazi this past November in the main event of UFC Fight Night Edmonton.
The position Moreno just climbed out of is the very same Steve Erceg finds himself in. “Astroboy” came into the UFC on a seven-fight win streak. Decision wins over David Dvorak & Alexandre Costa setup Erceg for a shot at the rankings. A knockout of Matt Schnell propelled Erceg to a place he could only dream of fight for the UFC Title.
A decision loss with to Alexandre Pantoja was met with critical acclaim as Erceg performed above expectations. A knockout loss to fellow contender Kai Kara France back place his feet against the fire.
