Mike Richman set for first BKFC Title defense
“The Marine” has been given his next assignment by BKFC.
For his first title defense Mike Richman will put the BKFC Light Heavyweight Championship on the line against number two ranked contender Josh “D-Day” Dyer.
The Light Heavyweight title fight will headline BKFC on Dazn Salt Lake City May 10 from the Maverick Center.
“This is our third event in Salt Lake City where we’ve drawn some of the biggest crowds in BKFC history,” said David Feldman, Founder and President of BKFC. “Mike Richman has worked very hard to become the BKFC Light Heavyweight World Champion and faced some of the best bare knuckle fighters in the world, however Josh Dyer has earned the opportunity in this tremendous battle of true warriors of the sport.”
Richman has been competing in Bare-Knuckle since 2018. Five knockout wins in a row elevated the Minnesota native to world title challenger. Coming up short on shots at the Light Heavyweight & Middleweight titles had Richman questioning his future. After nine-months away Richman gave the sport and other try stopping Erick Lozano in the fifth round. A second chance at the Light Heavyweight title wouldn’t be wasted. It took forty four seconds for Richman to stun, stop, and take the championship from Jared Warren.
Dyer is no stranger to the BKFC title. At BKFC 47 he fought Jared Warren for the interim strap. The fight would end in a no contest due to Dyer landing punches to the back of Warrens head. It was a rematch from Dyer’s debut where he stopped Warren in the fifth round. Allen of “D-Day’s” Bare-Knuckle wins have come by knockout including his last win at BKFC 63 over Billy Albrecht in fourth-six seconds.
Feldman also stated in quotes from BKFC “We’re putting together a fantastic undercard which we will announce shortly including numerous local fighters in a marquee event for those attending in-person at the Maverik Center and those watching globally on DAZN.”
