Top five Bantamweight showdown headlines UFC Fight Night Iowa
The UFC is heading to the Hawkeye State for a Fight Night in early May.
The five round main event will be a showdown between top five ranked Bantamweights. In the headliner former Flyweight champion, number five ranked Deiveson Figueiredo faces number four ranked Cory Sandhagen. The former champion has shown off his chops as a wrestler since moving up in weight while Sandhagen is best described as a sniper.
UFC Fight Night “Sandhagen vs Figueiredo” takes place on May 3rd from the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
Former two division champion under the One Championship banner, grappling wizard Reiner de Ridder from the Netherlands faces undefeated American wrestling phenom Bo Nickal. A major step up in competition for Nickal.
Plus, Jermey Stephens one of the hardest punchers in UFC history returns to the organization after over three years away. The Iowa native is riding a streak of three straight wins in BKFC. Facing the “Lil Heather” will be Mason Jones who’s ripped off four wins in a row to earn a second opportunity with the UFC. Stephens popularity is as high as it’s ever been coming off a third round TKO win over Eddie Alvarez in the Knucklemania 5 main event.
A second ranked Bantamweight matchup will see the number eleven ranked Mario Bautista squaring off against former title challenger and number thirteen ranked Marlon Vera.
