Edwards & Henry make Cases for title shots at BKFC Fight Night Omaha
Marcus Edwards is in the title shot conversation after Stopping Dakota Cochrane in 1st.
It took just over a minute but the fight felt over after the first punch. An Edwards straight left collecting the first of three second downs. The explosive Edwards dropping the number one contender for a second time with the straight left. Smelling blood in the water Edwards swarmed Cochrane with a flurry of punches for the third and final knockdown.
In 68 seconds Edwards did play more composure and Mickey set up the first two knockdowns before aggressively finding the finish. The win places Edwards along side of Donald Sanchez and Mike Perry in the running for next to Challenge David Mundell for the BKFC middleweight championship.
It was a 14-month since Bryce Henry had fought Bare Knuckle. The jab was sharp as ever and imposing figure at 6’4” towered over the 5’6” Derrick Findley. A Henry right hook had Findley leaning on the ropes another to the body ending the beating. The win moves Henry to 5-0, four wins at Lightweight where he appeared to be on a cusp of a title shot before his break from the sport. After his win Henry referenced eating a title shot whether it’s at lightweight or welterweight.
Dionisio Ramirez showed he’s the real deal cruising Middleweight contender Zeb Vincent with an overhand right. A straight left to Vincent’s eye the finishing touch as Ramirez got his second win in the promotion.
A creative lead right hand from James Brown opens multiple lacerations on Ramiro Figueroa’s face. Two almost slashes over Figueroa’s left eye. A cut inside left eye by the nose, one under the right eye, and gnarly split lip. A decisive statement that should reclaim Brown’s spot in the Lightweight rankings.
Composed aggression is the best way to describe the constant pressure and measures straight punches landed by Alonzo Martinez in defeating Kurtis Ellis by decision.
And Sarah Shell remained unbeaten with her straights punches sting a Galactika Mejia who got little accomplished attacking the body in the clinch. The BKFC women’s Starwweight division is in need in another challenger but it would be best for Shell get more seasoning before taking the challenge of the champ.
