Former Welterweight Champion returns to face Rising Contender in UFC Atlanta Headliner

Dana White took to Instagram today to drop news about the UFC calendar including who be fighting in the main and co-main event of UFC Atlanta.

After a year and a half away from action former Welterweight kingpin Kamaru “The Nigerian Nightmare” Usman will be returning to face his the surging Joaquin “New Mansa” Bucky in the main event of UFC Fight Night Atlanta.

Even with his time away Usman still sits at 4 in the contender rankings while a six-fight win streak has Buckley all the way up to number 6.

The last time we saw Usman was on short notice up a weight-class against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC294. A bout Usman lost by majority decision. In his first headlining honors this past December at UFC Fight Night Tampa Buckley busted Colby Covington open leading to a third round doctor stoppage.

The co-main event of the June 14th card at the State Fram arena will see former two-time women’s Strawweight champion and number 6 ranked “Thug” Rose Namajunas against number 12 ranked Miranda Maverick.

The UFC CEO also dropped the news that number 11 ranked lightweight contender Rafael Fiziev will square off against number 15 Ignacio Bahamondes in the co-main event of UFC Baku on June 21st in Azerbaijan.
