Troubling Signs from GFL

Could the end happen before and event even takes place.

The internet was a buzz Wednesday night as word spear that the first two GFL events set for May 24th & 25th in Los Angeles have been cancelled. The news was first broke by yahoo news and confirmed by mmafighting.

California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster confirmed that the promotion had notified the commission about the cancellations.

There is still speculation online that the GFL could still host their first event in May in another location. Others are holding out hope that the start has just been delayed to later in the years.

The original plans had their debut happening in April which was eventually pushed from early May to the later portion of the month.

There had already been concerns about the promotion viability after staging a draft that included selecting fighter that had been in contact with the promotion but hadn’t officially signed.

Over the last couple weeks since the cards for the first two events had been announced many noticed a key peace of information missing. Where was the broadcast deal.

Names such as Anthony Pettis, Benson Henderson, Tony Ferguson, Uriah Faber, Douglas Lima, Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Holly Holm, & Alexander Gustafsson and over a hundred others had all signed to participate in the inaugural GFL season.

We have to wonder will there ever be a GFL event.
