Upsets Rule the Night at second PFL event of 2025

When opportunity arises, you must be able to take advantage of the moment like Marcirley Alves.

From an alternate bout to headlining the card on a day’s notice. Marcirley Alves landed high kicks, hard right hands, and stuffed most of Leandro Higo’s takedowns to pull off a stunning split decision upset.

Across from Alves in the semifinals will be UFC vet Jake Hadley who submitted Matheus Mattos by the very rare Scottish Twister. The other semifinal was set up after Justin Wetzell out wrestled Kasum Kasumov and Mando Gutierrez capitalized on Franceso Nuzzi slipping to submit him by rear naked choke.

The final Bellator Women’s Flyweight champion, Liz Carmouche dropped Ilara Joanne with a body shot and continued to target the body of the ground for the first round TKO. In the semifinal Carmouche will face unbeaten Brazilian Elora Dana, who submitted Diana Avsaragova with a guillotine adjusted into a neck crank.

Katerina Shakalova pulled off the upset attacking the back take and submitting former Bellator champion Juliana Velasquez by rear naked choke in the first round. Shakalova will mee t Jena Bishop, who came back from getting knocked down in the first to bust up Kana Watanbe with up kicks and equaled the knockdown in the second. Bishop sealed the decision win by takin Watanbe’s back in third.
