Champions Series Card Tops First PFL Africa Event
South Africa will be hosting their first Major MMA event in July.
July 26th the GrandWest Arena in Cape Town, South Africa will see a combination event where PFL Champions Series Road To Dubai main card proceeds PFL Africa 1.
In the main event unbeaten Johnny Eblen defends his Middleweight world championship, formerly the Bellator Middleweight Championship, against Spain’s Costello Van Steenis (16-3). This past October Eblen defeated Fabian Edwards for the second time making his first successful defense of the PFL title. Van Steenis has knocked out Gregory Babene & submitted Joao Vitor Dantas.
The co-main event will see 2024 PFL Women’s Flyweight champion Dakota Ditcheva (11-0) squaring off against Hawaii’s Sumiko Inaba (8-1). Ditcheva ran through the competition last year with three first round knockout and a second round knockout in the finals. Inaba went 2-0 in 2024 beating Sarah Orozoco & Mackenzie Stiller.
Like the Global season the inaugural PFL Africa season will feature 8-man tournaments in each weight class. Heavyweights & Bantamweights will be up first.
