Legacy Continues: Summer Heat Set to Ignite Albuquerque Boxing Scene

Albuquerque’s boxing community will once again take center stage as Legacy Boxing Promotions returns with its latest showcase, “The Legacy Continues: Summer Heat,” scheduled for July 31st at the Embassy Suites.

Headlining the card, hometown staple Josh “Pitbull” Torres looks to continue his impressive run as he battles Alejandro Frias Reyes for the UBO Welterweight Title. Torres has quietly built one of the more consistent streaks on the local scene, riding a seven-fight win streak into this matchup. His most recent victory came in emphatic fashion—a third-round TKO over Gerardo Fuentes at The Legacy Continues 3.

A protégé of Albuquerque legend Johnny Tapia, Torres carries not only momentum but a deep connection to the city’s boxing roots. Adding to an already active stretch, Torres is also reportedly scheduled to face Alejandro Medina on May 30th on a  Tapia-promotions card honoring Tapia’s legacy. That busy schedule underscores both his durability and his growing desire for bigger opportunities as he’s 18 years into his pro journey.

In the co-main event, Christian “El Puma” Cabral meets Martin Solano for the UBO Middleweight Title in what could be a defining fight in Cabral’s comeback story. After stepping away from the sport for nearly five years, Cabral has returned with renewed focus, compiling an unbeaten record in four fights since his return. His resurgence has positioned him as a serious contender once again, and a win over Solano would solidify his place among the division’s rising names.

“The Legacy Continues VI: Summer Heat” continues to build on Legacy Boxing Promotions’ mission of highlighting regional talent while tying together Albuquerque’s rich boxing heritage. With championship stakes in both featured bouts and fighters looking to elevate their careers, the July 31st event promises a blend of momentum, legacy, and opportunity.

As the summer heats up, Albuquerque fight fans can expect another night where local pride and high-stakes boxing collide.
