FightWorld 47: Kidd Diamond Meets The Bully in Albuquerque
FightWorld MMA returns to Albuquerque on November 21 with FightWorld 47: Melendez vs. Brown at the Revel Entertainment Center, bringing another exciting night of professional and amateur mixed martial arts action to the Duke City.
The event will showcase a combination of experienced veterans and rising prospects from across the Southwest and beyond, continuing Albuquerque’s rich tradition as one of the nation’s premier destinations for mixed martial arts.
Headlining the event is a women’s strawweight showdown between Invicta FC veterans Arianna “Kidd Diamond” Melendez and Amber “The Bully” Brown.
Representing Fusion Xcel in Florida, Melendez travels across the country looking to spoil Brown’s homecoming. A well-rounded competitor with a dangerous submission game, Melendez has earned more than half of her career victories by submission.
For Brown, who represents Albuquerque’s FIT NHB, the fight carries special significance. “The Bully” returns to the cage for the first time in over three years and will compete professionally in her hometown for the first time. The matchup presents an intriguing clash between Melendez’s submission skills and Brown’s experience as she looks to make a statement in front of her hometown fans.
In the welterweight division, the fun-loving Mark Hussey squares off against Kani Correa, a dangerous finisher who enters the matchup boasting a 100% finishing rate.
A pair of promising flyweights will also collide as Sergio “El Mas Chingon” Gutierrez meets Alan “Perrito” Corral. Gutierrez is coming off a spectacular professional debut at FightWorld 46, where he scored a first-round knockout. Corral was equally impressive in his professional debut, securing a submission victory. With both fighters looking to build on successful debuts, this matchup has the potential to steal the show.
Also scheduled for the professional card is James Romero, who looks to build momentum following a first-round knockout victory on short notice. Romero’s opponent has yet to be announced.
The amateur portion of the event will feature championship stakes as Juan Ytuarte of Elite Kickboxing Academy in El Paso, Texas, faces Brad Tarpley of Durango Martial Arts for the FightWorld Amateur Flyweight Championship.
The amateur lineup will also showcase talent from gyms throughout the Southwest, including Borg MMA, Chavez Dojo, FIT NHB, Zia Fitness & Jiu-Jitsu, Durango Martial Arts, Nobody’s Villains, Sandoval Fight Systems, Elite Kickboxing Academy, and JacksonWink MMA.
With a mixture of established names, emerging prospects, and championship aspirations, FightWorld 47 promises another action-packed night for Albuquerque fight fans.
