Bellator's 1st Pay Per View, Rampage vs. Ortiz November 2 -

We all knew that Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (32-11) was going to be at Bellator 97. It was also well known that “Rampage” would be making a big announcement. For the last week it had been rumored that the announcement would be for a Boxing match between Jackson and Multiple weight class and time world champion of the sweet science Roy Jones Jr. That was not the case, as it was reveled that Rampage is again in love with a MMA and in his first Bellator bout will face newly signed and back from retirement Tito “The People’s Champion” Ortiz (16-11-1).

The Rampage vs. Ortiz bout will take place on Saturday, November 2^nd; at the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. This event will be the first pay per view event in the promotions history. While not official, rumor has it that the event may be Bellator 105.

Rampage has lost 3 fights in a row and is 2-4 in his last 6. Jackson’s time with the UFC ended on a 3 fight losing streak, being defeated by Jon Jones (SUB), Ryan Bader (UD), and Glover Teixerira (UD). towards the end of his time with the UFC Jackson dealt with injuries and seemed to to have also his fighting spirit; expect for in verbal exchanges with his then boss Dana White. Jackson now happy with his working environment looks to get back to the form that has seen him win 21 fights by stoppage.

Oritz, the same as Jackson ended his time with the UFC on a 3 fight losing streak; suffering losses to Rashad Evans (TKO), Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (TKO), and Forrest Griffin (UD). A day prior to his loss to Griffin at UFC 148, the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion was inducted into the UFC’s Hall of Fame. Right in the middle of 2,3 fight losing streaks is the last time Ortiz’s hand was raised in victory, when the self proclaim “People’s Champion” formerly “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” submitted Ryan Bader at UFC 132.

These two men have fought many of the top names in MMA and now we will see Legend vs. Legend in the Bellator cage.
