Teixeira Challenges Jones In UFC 170 Main Event
After having been rumored to headlined UFC 169 it’s official that UFC 170 will be headlined by Glover Teixeira (22-2) challenging Jon “Bones” Jones (19-1) for the UFC Light Heavyweight title.
UFC 170 will takes place on February 22 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Since a disqualification loss to Matt Hamill, Jones has won 10 fights in row; with 8 by stoppage. Jones is coming off his 6th and toughest title defense, winning by unanimous decision over Alexander Gustafsson; at UFC 165. “Bones” has 15 stoppage wins in his career with 9 (T)KO and 6 submissions.
Teixeira has won 20 consecutive fights, including defeating Kyle Kingsbury (SUB), Fabio Maldonado (TKO), Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (UD), James Te Huna (SUB), and Rayn Bader (TKO); since joining the UFC. Teixeira has 13 of 19 stoppage wins by (T)KO.
