Ortiz vs. Schelmenko Among 6 New Addition to Bellator 120
After having his last 3 opponents determined by tournaments reigning Bellator Middleweight champion Alexander “Storm” Schelmenko (50-7) decided to say who he had his sights set on, calling out former UFC Light Heavyweight champion “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” Tito Oritz (16-11-1); who has accepted the offer.
Schelmenko who is the 185 lbs. champion will not be putting his title on the line in this bout as it will be contested in Oritz’s weight class of 205 lbs.
In his last 4 bout Schelmenko has stopped Miaquel Falcao with a body shot to win the title and has defended it by decision-ing Brett Copper, stopping Doug Marshall by body shot, and submitting Brennan Ward.
For Ortiz this will be his 2nd attempt at a Bellator debut after having to pull out of a Bellator 106 scheduled meeting with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, due to a neck injury. Ortiz last competed at UFC 148 suffering a unanimous decision loss to Forrest Griffin, which was Oritz’s 6th loss in 8 bouts.
