UFC Announces Main & Co-main Events for August Return to
The UFC will be returning to Macau, China on August 23; and the main event will see Cung le (9-2) against Michael “The Count” Bisping (24-6). This announcement was made following UFC 173.
The events co-main event is also official with Hector “Lightning” Lombard (34-4-1) taking on “The Stun Gun” Dong Hyun Kim (19-2-1).
Le has won 3 of his last 4 bout and is coming off consecutive wins over Patrick Cote (UD) and Rich Franklin (KO), but those both came back in 2012. Le most recently took part in the first season of TUF China being a special mentor to both teams.
Bisping in his last 5 fight is 2-3 with losses to Chael Sonnen (UD), Vitor Belfor (TKO), and most recently too Tim Kennedy (UD); while having claimed victories Brian Stann (UD) and Alan Belcher (TUD).
Lombard is 3-1 in his last 4 fights and since a split decision loss to Yushin Okami at Middleweight, has dropped to Welterweight; and won consecutive bouts over Nate Marquardt (KO) and Jake Shield ((UD).
Kim is the winner of 5 of his last 6 bout and is the owner of a current 4 fight win streak having defeated Paulo Thiago (UD), Siyar Bahadurzada (UD), Erick Silva (KO), and John Hathaway. Kim’s last lost came by TKO, from a rib injury that occurred while being taken down by Demian Maia.
