Lombard Meets Magny at UFC Fight Night 84
The co-main event of UFC Fight Night 84 will see a Welterweight contest between American Top Teams Hector Lombard (34-4-1) and Elevation Fight Teams Neil Magny (17-4).
Lombard, born in Cuba and then defected to Australia where this event is taking place. Lombard is fighting for the first time since UFC 182 where he defeated Josh Burkman via unanimous decision; which was over turned to a no contest after Lombard tested positive for anabolic steroids. Outside the no contest, Lombard a former Bellator Middleweight, has won 3 of his last 4.
Magny the number 8 ranked UFC Welterweight contender, in the last 2 calender years has won 9 of his last 10, including back to back split decision wins over Erick Silva and Kelvin Gastelum; rebounding from a UFC 190 schooling on the ground by Demian Maia.
Also announced for the card at Middleweight, Australian slugger James Te Huna (16-8), looks to end a 3 fight skid when he tangles with former Hockey player, Canadian Steve Bosse (10-2), who’s in search of his 1st win inside the octagon. Also at Middleweight TUF Brazil 3 winner Antonio Carlos Jr. (5-1) takes on former Judo Olympian Daniel Kelly (10-1). At Welterweight, male model Alan Jouban (12-4) squares off with Brendan O’reilly, who’s coming off a decision win over Vik Grujic.
UFC Fight Night 84 is on March 20th at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; and is headlined by Frank Mir vs. Mark Hunt.
