Atrisco Kid meets Art Hovhannisyan May 20th
The opponent has signed and it’s official, “The Atrisco Kid” Fidel Maldonado Jr. (21-3) on May 20th will square of with Armenian Art “Lionheart” Hovhannisyan (17-2-2), in Palm Springs, California.
Following a TKO loss to Amir Imam, Maldonado returned home and helped grow the Atrisco Boxing into the most well recognized and talked about gym in the New Mexico. His last 2 fights have both taken place at the friendly confines of Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino, with both bouts ending in TKO’s. Maldonado has 18 wins by knockout and coming off stopping Michael Clark a former multi-time title challenger, Maldonado is posed and ready for a huge performance on a big stage.
Hovhannisyan trains out of Geldale, California, and has 9 wins by knockout, but will be stepping into the ring for the first time since July of 2014. Hovhannisyan is only 2-2 in his last 4 and will be looking to rebound from a split decision loss to Jonathan Maicelo. Hovhannisyan has a conection to the 505, holding a notable 2011, TKO win over New Mexican, Archie Ray Marquez.
