Condit & Cerrone in Action at UFC 202
August 20th’s UFC 202 will see a pair of JacksonWink fighters on the card. After taking a step back and reassessing “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (30-9) has chosen against retirement and as “Cowboy” Doonald Cerrone (30-7) likes it he’ll be right back in the saddle with a quick turn around.
Condit the number 5 ranked UFC title contender will square off with number 4 ranked contender Demian Maia. Condit will be fighting fro the first time since a January, controversial split decision loss to UFC Welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, in a fight that Condit out-landed Lawler with a 3-1 ratio. Maia a BJJ expert, that has won 5 straight, including submitting Neil Magny and Matt Brown, with rear naked chokes.
For his third straight fight at 170 lbs, Cerrone has this time drawn Rick “The Horror” Story. At Welterweight Cerrone is 2-0 with a submission of Alex Oliveira and a technical knockout of Patrick Cote. Cerrone like to stay busy as shown by his win over Cote came just 10 days ago. This will put Cerrone at 9 weeks between fights. Story is a powerful, pressure fighter, who’s won 3 straight having submitted Leandro Marfa and taking decisions from Gunnar Nelson (split) and Tarec Saffiedine (unanimous).
UFC 202 will also see Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (21-5) vs Glover Teixeira (25-4), a bout that had originally been scheduled for July 23, UFC on Fox 20.
UFC 202 is August 20th in Las Vegas, Nevada; and is headlined by Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz 2.
