Nunes vs. Rousey headlines UFC 207
The first Challenger to UFC Woman’s Bantamweight champion Amanda “Lioness” Nunes will be former champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, who will be returning to the octagon for the first time since losing the title almost a year ago.
Amanda Nunes, is a member of American Top Team, who’ on a 4 fight win streak. Nunes has 12 career stoppage victories with 3 submission, including a rear naked choke win over Meisha Tate, that earned her the title of UFC World Champion. The heavy handed Brazilian scored her first 6 victories by knockout and has 7 first round knockouts; and in all has 10 first round finishes.
Ronda Rousey was the last ever Strikeforce Woman’s Bantamweight Champion & the first ever UFC Woman’s Bantamweight champ. Rousey defeated Meisha Tate to win the Strikeforce title and defended it successfully against Sarah Kaufman. Then the division was merged with the UFC. Rousey would defend the UFC title 6 times before, getting knocked out by Holly Holm at UFC 193, in November of 2015. Rousey has 12 stoppage victories with 9 submission wins all armbars; with 11 first round victories. The former Judo Olympian has also taken to working ofn the big screen having appeared in Films such as Expendables 3, Fast and the Furious 7, and Entourage.
The biggest question in this fight is can Rousey find the confidence that Holm knocked out of her. Rousey spent months away from MMA because of a rumored emotional state, after her aura of invincibility had been shattered. The fight game is more mental then you could believe and right now it would appear that Rousey’s mental state will be a huge topic of discussion over the next few months. Nunes on the other side is riding a wave of positive momentum
UFC 207 again is December 30th, at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
