Cerrone-Masvidal & Arlovski-Ngannou head to Denver

The UFC win be in the Rocky Mountains at the end of January and home town boy Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (32-7) will be granted his request of being on the card and it will be against Jorge “Gambred” Masvidal (31-11).

Cerrone is 3-0 since moving up to Welterweight form Lightweight, with consecutive knock outs of Patrick Cote, Rick Story, and Matt Brown. Masvidal made the same change in weight class last year and has since gone 3-2. Masvidal debut at 170 with a knock out of Cezar Ferreira, before consecutive split decision loss to Benson Henderson and Lorenz Larkin. Masvidal has since taken a unanimous decision from Ross Pearson and then scored a TKO of Jake Ellenberger; which was some what controversial with Ellenberger’s toes getting stuck in the bottom of the fence (first time ever).

img_6624Also announced for the UFC on Fox 23 event is a Heavyweight battle between number 8 ranked contender Andrei “Pitbull” Arlovski (25-13) & number 11 ranked contender Francis Ngannou (9-1). These town men come in with their career going in totally opposite directions. Arlovski has lost 3 straight to Stipe Miocic, Alistar Overeem, and Josh Barnett; a slump that comes on the heels of a 6 fight win streak. Ngannou has won 8 straight fights and is 4-0 in the octagon, with 3 knock outs and coming off of submitting Anthony Hamilton. This is the grizzled wise vet former World champion against the hot new exciting kid on the block; who some of called a revelation in the Heavyweight division.

UFC on Fox 23 will be on January 38th, at the Pepsi Center in Denver Colorado.
