Jackson’s MMA Series XXI Recap & Results
Live at the Buffalo Thunder Resort & Casino for Jackson’s MMA Series XXI. A 8-fight card headlined by Force of One’s Omar Acosta against JacksonWink MMA’s Josh Moreno.
The 6-fight amateur card will get the Night going and the first fight is at Welterweight (170) with Francisco Eca of JacksonWink MMA against Pablo Villarreal of Grizzly MMA in Alamosa, Colorado. Eca is the first landed hard with knees and his left kicks, finally gave up a takedown in the last 10 seconds of the round. Villarreal stuffed on his first takedown attempt of the 2nd eating knees, got the takedown off a double leg on his 2nd attempt transitioned to mount and almost end the fight. Villarreal lands his first takedown attempt of the 3rd and from there they scramble and exchanged positions, but Eca definitely landed the harder shots. Eca also ended the 3rd on top. The judges in a split decision score in favor of Eca.
Fight number 2 is a Lightweight (155) bout with Robert Glover of Get Cut MMA against Jesse Moorhouse of Wink’s Gum. Moorhouse wanted the fight on the ground got it there made it to mount worked his strikes, and even got and verbal tap from an armbar the ref missed. Moorhouse showed of his striking landing a few heavy punches, then took it to the ground after securing mount he secured the kimura for a submission victory.
Fight 3 at Featherweight (145) with Quintin Carmichael of Force of One from Clovis, NM, against Randy Baker from JacksonWink MMA. Both men come out fast and hard swing big. Baker changes the game hits atakedon, gets swept. Baker finished the first on top with an arm triangle choke. Rd 2 saw a striking brawl again no defense every punch landing. Baker scored a takedown again. Rd 3 Baker out the corner Poweful side kick knock Carmichael down follow up punches finish the fight.
Fight 4 at Welterweight with Nikko Nathan of Force of One from Clovis, NM, against Jalin Fuller from Luttrell/Yee MMA in ABQ, NM. Nathan wanted the fight on the ground but was unable tonland them. Fuller worked off his jab and teep kick also use his knee strikes to defend the takedowns. In the 2nd Fuller cut Nathan’s nose with the Jab. The 3 rd saw Nathan come out hard for the takedown and after that failed he got stuck on the fence, Fuller got his thia clinch and threw knees to the head till the ref jumped in.
Fight 5 is at Flyweight (125) with Christopher Cortez from Force of One in Clovis, NM, against Bryan Linares of ANK Santa Fe Muay Thia, from Santa Fe, NM.They clinch hit the ground Cortez on top in side control scarf hold for the win.
The final amateur contest is at Bantamweight (135) with Mark Matthew McDill of Get Cut MMA from Artesia, NM, against Dogan Saritas of JacksobWink MMA. McDill scores a quick takedown, Dogan right to an armbar, McDill escapes. They stand and Dogan throws some kicks, lands a left and is takedown. McDill in full guard Dogan throws legs up, then use elbows to fully open and lock up the triangle tap for the submission win.
The first pro bout is the co-main event with Rene Bailustamante of Lean Mean MMA in El Paso, Texas, against Ernesto Salvidrez of Pat Holmes Boxing/ Santa Fe Fitness & MMA, both making pro debuts. They exchange jabs, Bausamante got out of position and Salvidrez got the take took the back hunted the choke. Bausamante tried to move on bottom and rolled to his back, Salvidrez in mount punches till the ref jumped in.
Main event a Middleweight (185) contest with Omar Acosta of Force or One MMA vs Josh Moreno of JacksonWink MMA. Moreno went to work in the first on Acosta’s front lead left leg. Acosta got the clinch couldn’t get his take downs. Moreno with a left over hand and the kick took the first. In the 2nd Moreno went back to his leg kicks. Acosta hunted the takedown, Moreno defend and put Acosta on his back with a kimura sweep. Moreno stood out of the guard landed a few leg kick then a ax kick that went low. When action restated Moreno was able to turn Acosta from a clinch, putting Acosta on the cage and then opened up a flurry of hooks to he head and knees. Acosta blocking the knees, Moreno then digs with hook body and head dropping Acosta to his back with the ref jumping in.
