Super fights are the rage. And now rightfully so the women are getting in on the act.
The main event of UFC 232 at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on December 29, will see UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Amanda “Lioness” Nunes challenging Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino for the UFC Women’s Featherweight title.
Cyborg (20-1), also a former Strikeforce & Invicta FC champion, who’s won 20 straight mma contests, 15 by knock out, coming off a first round finish of Yana Kunitskaya in March. The win was the 2nd title defense for the 33 year old. Nunes (16-4) on a 7 fight win streak that includes 3 successful title defenses. Nunes has 14 finishes, 11 knocks coming off a 5th round finish of Raquel Pennington, and 3 submissions all rear naked chokes; for the 30 year old.
This will also be a meeting of Cyborg the number 1 & Nunes the number 2 ranked women’s fighters in the pound for pound rankings. Interestingly enough both lost their pro debuts.
