It would appear that UFC 235 now has a main event that will see newly crowned UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones defending the belt against streaking “Anthony “Lionhart” Smith.
UFC 235 is scheduled to take place at the T-mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, March 2.
The fight happening is contingent on Jon Jones getting licensed in Nevada, which didn’t happen for UFC 232 and saw the card moved from Las Vegas to Inglewood, California, six days before the event. In lead up to UFC 232 USADA tests of Jon Jones showed abnormalities. Jones would show minimal amounts of turinabol the same banned substance Jones was suspended for. The California Commission accepted the argument that the turinabol that showed on the test was from a previous ingestion and that Jones has not taken any since it was originally found in his system.
Jones regained the Light Heavyweight Title at UFC 232 with a 3rd round TKO of Alexander Gustafsson.
Amith is 3-0 at 205 lbs. having beaten former champions Rashad Evans, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and title challenger Volkan Oezdemir.
