Cerrone vs. Gaethje Headlines UFC Fight Night in Vancouver
The UFC has announced a fight of the year caliber match will headline their September event in Vancouver.
The must-see match will pit fan favorite and number 4 ranked Lightweight ontender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone against all action fighter, former WSOF champion, Justin “The Highlight” Gaethje, who’s the number 5 ranked Lightweight contender.
The UFC will be at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada, to hold UFC on ESPN+ 16/ UFC Fight Night 158. Current fight car below.
Cerrone has won 3 of his last 4 fights. “Cowboy” ended his 10-fight stint at Welterweight by submitting Mike Perry by armbar this past November. The 36-year-old then returned to Lightweight where he handed Alex Hernandez his first career loss. It was Cerrone’s 10th career knockout victory. The founder of the BMF would continue to roll with a decision win over Al Iaquinta. “Cowboy” now looks to rebound from losing to Tony Ferguson at UFC 238. A fight that hand to be stopped after the second round because Cerrone couldn’t see out of his right eye. And don’t forget Cerrone has the most wins in UFC history, twenty-three and the most post fight bonuses, eighteen.
Since signing with the UFC Justin Gaethje has been involved in 5 incredibly exciting contests, going 3-2 in that span. The 3 victories have come in devasting fashion a TKO of Michael Johnson and fully knocking out James Vick & Edson Barboza. The Arizona native resides in Colorado and has 17 of his 18 stoppages by knockout. The 30-year-old has a college wrestling background but would much rather exchange strikes with his opponents. Even though we haven’t seen them utilized much in the octagon 3 of Gaethje’s knockout wins have come in part from leg kicks.
