Nunes first featherweight title defense to come against Spencer
A second title fight has been slated to happen at UFC 250.
Ahead of UFC on ESPN+ 27, where there was to be two women’s featherweight bouts, two division champion Amanda Nunes said her next move was to defend her 145 lbs. title for the first time. Both Megan Anderson and Felicia Spencer won by fist round finish. Anderson knocking out Norma Dumont with a one big right hand, while Spencer drug Zarah Faim to the mat for a TKO from ground pound victory.
The UFC has elected to give the title shot to Felicia Spencer (8-1) who submitted Megan Anderson by rear naked choke last May. The former Invicta champion and native of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Spencer has six finishes four by rear naked choke.
Nunes (19-4) who resides in Florida is returning to her native Brazil to defend a title for the 2nd time. At UFC 224 Nunes beat Raquel Pennington by unanimous decision in Rio de Janeiro. At UFC 232 the “Lioness” dethroned Cris “Cyborg” by first round TKO to win the women’s featherweight title. Nunes has since retuned to Bantamweight beating Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie.
UFC 250 takes place May 9th at Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
