Cejudo to face a different legend at UFC 250

The Covid-19 pandemic has altered the main event of UFC 250. Henry Cejudo will still be defending the UFC bantamweight title against a legendary former champion.

Following a split decision loss in his bantamweight debut, Jose Aldo (28-6) was scheduled to face Henry Cejudo for the UFC bantamweight title in the main event of UFC 250. At that time the event was scheduled for São Paulo, Brazil, but the arena has been converted into a field hospital to help battle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately Aldo’s US Visa has expired, renewals are currently not being offered, leaving the former UFC featherweight champion unable to enter the United States where the event is now expected to take place.

Former two time UFC & WEC bantamweight Champion, Dominick Cruz (22-2) will replace Aldo. Cruz hasn’t fought since losing the UFC bantamweight title to Cody Garbrandt in December of 2016. Since Cruz’s 13-fight win streak ended he’s been booked to fight Jimmie Rivera & John Lineker, withdrawing from both due to injury.  Cruz has stayed busy working as a commentator & analyst for the UFC.

Cejudo (15-2) won the than vacant UFC bantamweight title back at UFC 238 by third round TKO over Marlon Morales.
