DWCS 2020 Week 1, three contracts handed out
The UFC Apex innLas Vegas, Nevada hosts week 1 of the 2020 season of Dana White’s Contender Series.
First off unbeaten Jordan “The Monkey King” Lwavitt face off with Jose “Luke” Flores who has finishes in eight of his nine wins. On a seven-fight win streak, Mexico’s Luis “Lazyboy” Rodriguez faces Santa Fe, NM, Jerome “The Renegade” Rivera, who’s won his last two by submission. Unbeaten, Serbian, Urso Medic, bring in a hundred percent finishing rate into meeting California’s, Mikey Gonzalez, who has five first round wins.
Jordan Leavitt remains unbeaten forcing Luke Flores into a grappling battle. “The Monkey King” caught Flores in a triangle choke for the first round finish, his fifth career submission win.
Jerome Rivera wins his third straight taking a highly contested unanimous decision over Luis Rodriguez. Rivera had Rodriguez back in the first and after losing the position continued to threatened submissions. The most tenuous moment of the fight for Rivera came in the second as Rodriguez had a deep triangle arm bar combination locked in, but staying calm Rivera escaped. While on the feet Rivera racked up the numbers with trap, and low kick, along with piping away at his jab; out striking Rodriguez 30-87 according to the number shown on program.
Implanting his shin into solar plexus, chopping at the calf, & brutal punches on the ground saw Uros Medic demolish Mikey Gonzalez in just over two minutes.
Lastly Justin Jacoby came out sprinting in the first two rounds, putting Ty Flores through a buzzsaw of flying knees, kicks, punches, & elbows in the clinch- while defending all takedowns. Scoring one 10-8 rd from all three judges to win a unanimous decision.
