Mamalis vs. Perez Bare-Knuckle MMA Bout Headlines Sparta 90
Four different Combat Sports featured at this weekend’s Sparta 90.
The main event is a Bare-Knuckle MMA fight. The scheduled ten-fight amateur undercard will include MMA action with gloves, Muay Thai, & Boxing. The headliner is between seasoned competitors 43-fight vet Nick Manalis and 38-fight pro Gene Perez.
Manalis maybe be best remembered by MMA fans for his wild fight in Bellator in 2010. Since that time the Wyoming grappler has continued to compete mainly across the Rocky Mountains and Midwest. The fighter nicknamed “Garfield” has 21 finishes 12 by submission. This will be Manalis first Bare-Knuckle MMA fight, but he did square off with Johnny Bedford at BKFC 1. The 35-year-old is returning to action for the first time since battling Ray Rodriguez who went on to earn a UFC contract.
Fighting professionally since 2009, Perez has 19 Boxing matches, 17 MMA bouts, one Muay Thai fight, and went the distance with Michael Santos in Bare-Knuckle MMA in August 2020. A gritty southpaw who embodies the hard-working class of his hometown Belen New Mexico. Perez is never one to shy from a challenge and is always down to scrap that mentality has led to him fighting against the caliber of competition who went on to fight for UFC & WBO titles, in the cases of Ray Borg & Jason Sanchez. The 31-year-old father of two even representing his family gym Perez Fighting Systems even participated in the only Lion Fights card to have happened in New Mexico.
