Change to Eagle FC 44 Main Event & Promotion Signs Another UFC vet
The main event for Eagle FC 44 has been changed almost as quickly as it was announced.
Instead of facing Antonino “Bigfoot” Silva, Tyrone Spong is now matched to face Sergei Kharitonov. Spong a world champion kickboxer is unbeaten in MMA & Boxing. “The King of the Ring” last fought in MMA in 2013 and has racked up 14 wins in Boxing. The Russian Heavyweight just like his counterpart has competed in all three combat sports. “The Paratrooper” is coming off a November first round knockout of Fabio Maldonado.
A third match-up for Eagle FC 44 the promotions debut in the United States has been announced and will feature former UFC Bantamweight world champion Renan Barao in his first post UFC contest. The Brazilian will take on Mexico’s Horacio “Punisher” Gutierrez who’s won four in a row the last three for Combate.
Eagle FC 44 is January 28th in Miami, Florida. Just today January 15th the promotion hosted a press conference in the 305 announcing it will be the American home of the organization. Eagle Fight Club is going to do things their own way having 165 & 175 lb. weight classes that many pundits have clamored for.
A major acquisition was also announced as recently released UFC lightweight Kevin Lee has signed with Eagle FC. Lee reportedly has plans to relocate to South Florida, train at Sandford MMA, & compete at 165 lbs.
