Thomas Petersen vs. Waldo Cortes-Acosta Heavyweight Title Fight Headlines LFA 129
LFA is returning to the Land of 10,000 Lakes with a clash of titans for the LFA’s most prestigious prize.
LFA 129 will be the promotions 15th event in the State of Minnesota and the first featuring a heavyweight title main event. Thomas “The Train” Petersen puts the LFA Heavyweight title on the line against fellow unbeaten fighter Waldo Cortes-Acosta.
LFA 129 takes place Friday, April 15th at the Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
“The Train” has made his bones on the mat winning two State titles in high school, a junior college national championship and wrestled for D-1 program North Dakota State. Since transitioning to MMA Petersen has racked up all five of his wins by first round knockout. At LFA 112 the Minnesota native captured gold by toppling Vernon Lewis in 62 seconds.
The challenger Waldo Cortes-Acosta is the polar opposite of the champ who achieves the same desired results. The Dominican fighter has scored 50% of his wins in Boxing & 40% of his wins in MMA by knockout. At LFA 129 Cortes-Acosta’s hands were on full display as he made a successful debut with the promotion stopping Derrick Weaver 28 seconds into the second round.
