Usman-Edwards 2 Headlines UFC 278 in SLC
The UFC has announced pound for pound number one ranked fighter in the world, welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will headline the promotions first numbered event in Utah.
The “Nigerian Nightmare” will defend his Welterweight crown against number two ranked contender Leon “Rocky” Edwards. The two have fought before six years ago. Usman left the first fight in Orlando with a unanimous decision victory.
Edwards took the loss in stride and has came back on a tear winning eight in a row. In “Rocky‘s” last two wins he’s he proven himself ready for championsjip competition beaten former champ Rafael dos Anjos & fan favorite Nate Diaz.
Usman’s win over Edwards was a successful official UFC debut coming off season 21 of TUF. Eight wins latter the UFC title is being wrapped around Usman’s waist. Usman has accumulated five title defenses to put himself in the conversation with Georges St. Pierre for greatest Welterweight of all time.
UFC 278 will be August 20th at the Vivant Areana.
