Championship Doubleheader Set for Bellator 288

Bellator MMA has announced a championship doubleheader for Bellator 288 with a highly anticipated rematch in the main event.

On November 18 Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson get to settle what they started in April and see who will win the Bellator Light-Heavyweight Grand Prix and take the world title. Anderson was controlling the first fight with his wrestling until an accidental head but led to a no contest. Heading into the first meeting Nemkov had won eight in a row. Anderson went into the tournament final with three knockout wins inside the Bellator cage.

The co-main even will see unbeaten Usman Nurmagomedov challenging Patricky “Pitbull” Freire for the Bellator Lightweight title. Nurmagomedov is 4-0 in Bellator with three straight first round finishes a knouckout and two submissions.  Nurmagomedov is not the wrestler his UFC champion cousin was but is a lethal striker with a diverse submission game. Freire won the title vacated by his older brother by knocking out Peter Queally in November. “Pitbull” is a BJJ black belt known for his massive punching power.

The event will take place at the Wintrust arena in Chicago Illinois.
