Key Details Announced for 1st 3 Events of 2023 PFL Season
The Professional Fighters League has announced their first three events of the 2023 regular season will take place in Sin City.
The Theater at the Virgin Hotel will host events on April 1st, 7th, & 14th. The headliner of event one will see 2022 Featherweight champion Brendan Loughane squaring off with former WSOF Bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes. The co-main pits 2022 Light-Heavyweight champion Robert Wilkinson against former UFC title challenger Thiago Santos. A doctor stoppage at the end of the second round gave Wilkinson his championship win over Omari Akhmedov. Santos comes to the PFL holding wins over names such as Nate Marquardt, Anthony Smith, & Johnny Walker.
The seasons second event on April 7th is headlined by 2022 Heavyweight champion Ante Delija taking on UFC vet Yorgan De Castro. Delija knocked out Matheus Scheffel for a second time in 2022 in the finals. De castro makes his PFL debut on a three-fight win streak coming off defeating former UFC champion Juniro Dos Santos. The co-main event will see 2022 Women’s champion Larrissa Pacheco battling former Bellator champion Julia Budd. In the 2022 final Pacheco become the first women to put a blemish on Kayla Harrison’s record winning a unanimous decision. Budd will look to improve on a year that saw her only win one of her three fights.
The third event of the season on April 14th will see 2022 Lightweight winner Olivier Aubin-Mercier colliding with UFC vet Shane Burgos. “OAM” won the 2022 Lightweight title with a one-punch knockout of Stevie Ray. Burgos signed with the PFL as a free agent moving up from Featherweight where he was ranked in the UFC, to fight at 155 lbs. in the PFL with the season schedule. 2022 Welterweight champion Sadibou Sy faces former Brave FC champion Jarrah Al-Silawu in the co-main event. Sy is on a four-fight win streak coming off defeating Danilo Taylor in the 2022 finals by decision. Al-Silawu won two of his three fights in the PFL last year including knocking out Michael Lilly.
