11 Fights official for UFC 290
A Dana white special announcement video across social media has given the masses a full look at the cherry on top of International Fight Week, UFC 290.
The main event will be a title unification bout in the featherweight division as Alexander Volkanovski returns to the division to fight interim champion Yair Rodriguez. The Australian champion has four successful defenses of his crown under his belt. At UFC 284 Volkanovski failed to become a two division champion the same night Rodriguez be Josh Emmett to win the interim crown.
The co-main event will see Brazil’s Alexandre Pantoja challenging Mexico is Brandon Moreno for the UFC flyweight world title. Pantoja submitted Moreno on season 24 of The Ultimate Fighter & took a decision win in May of 2018. Moreno is a two time champion with finishes in his last four wins.
The feature fight is a title eliminator in the middleweight division as former champion Australia’s, Robert Whittaker faces South Africa’s Dricus Du Plessi. Whittaker has won four of his last five fights with the loan loss being a controversial decision against champion Israel Adesanya. Du Plessis is on a seven fight win streak including 5five straight wins inside the octagon.
The other two main card about we’ll see highly touted wrestler Bo Nickal against Ultimate Fighter 29 standout Tresean Gore. And in a top 15 ranked lightweight show down number 10 ranked Jalin Turner will face number 11 ranked Dan Hooker.
The featured prelim will be the final fight in the illustrious career of former welterweight champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler taking on Niko “The Hybrid” Price. Lawler will go into the UFC HOF for his war with Rory Macdonald two nights before the fight.
A final ranked meeting will see number 9 ranked Sean Brady clashing with number 13 ranked Jack Della Maddalena. Brady is 5-1 in the UFC looking to rebound from losing to Belal Muhammad at UFC 280. “JDM” is 4-0 in the UFC with all four being first round finishes.
Their T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada host UFC 290 on July 9th.
