LFA 167 Results, Devin Smyth Wheel Kicks his way to the Winners Circle
Legacy Fighting Alliance is at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls, New York for LFA 167. With the Falls as a backdrop the seven-fight card is headlined by a Welterweight showdown.
In the main event Jonathan Piersma faces Devin Smyth. Piersma is on a three-fight win streak with submissions in two thirds of his victories. Smyth is a Contender Series vet with five of his nine wins by submission.
The return from three years away from action couldn’t have played out any better for Devin Smyth. Smyth came out working fast making Jonathan Piersma uncomfortable attacking all three levels. As Piersma went to circle to his right into a wheel kick landing flush on the chin for the knockout in under a minute. Smyth made a resounding statement as to why he should be part of the next LFA Welterweight title fight.
In the co-main event Bakhromjon Mashrapov charged out the gates with a flying knee that found him controlled on the ground throughout the first round. Shami-khan Magomedov continued to succeed with single legs advancing to mount on two different occasions to take a decision win.
The main card started out with Liam Anderson navigating his way through the striking to trip Jay Manning down getting to the back and sinking in a rear naked choke for the second-round finish. Jeffery Craig ended a two-fight skid out striking Barrington Bishop for a unanimous decision win, on the strength of his continual movement and counter striking. In the night’s featured fight Muay Thai expert Ashley Nichols battered Nadia Vera with knees to the body adding in hard outside leg kicks and laser like right hands in route to a decision win.
