Trio of Announcements for the UFC’s return to the 305
Two fights with title implications and the debut of one of the worlds most exciting strikers have been announced for UFC 299.
UFC 299 will be March 9th in Miami.
Former Bantamweight champion, number 5 ranked Petr Yan will look to remain in the title picture when he faces 26-year-old Chinese prospect Yadong Song. Yan has worried many showing a lack of urgency losing three decisions in a row, two by split decision. Song back to back main event wins over Ricky Simon & Chris Gutierrez.
In the welterweight division former title challenger, number four ranked Gilbert Burns will take on number eleven ranked Aussi, Jack Della Maddalena. Burns got a hot start to 2023 submitting Neil Magny & winning a decision over Jorge Masvidal, before losing to Belal Muhammad. “JDM” has started his UFC career with six consecutive wins. This year the 27-year-old has submitted Randy Brown and taken decisions wins over Bassil Hafez & Kevin Holland.
Also in Welterweight action number twelve ranked Kevin “Trailblazer” Holland will welcome Bellator vet Michael “Venom” Page to the octagon. Holland has a very fan friendly system that has endeared him to fans around the world. In his last two wins Holland has submitted Michael Chiesa and knocked out Santiago Ponzinibbio. Page is an electrifying striker, whose crushed Evangelista “cyborg” Santos’s skull with a jumping knee, knocked out Shinsho Anzai with a single punch, and stopped Gucci Yamauchi with one leg kick.
