LFA 176 Quick Results, Wrestling Dominates as Elijah Johns Captures LFA Title

The Arizona Financial Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona hosts LFA 176 where the main event will see a new featherweight champion crowned.

LFA 176 was to be the conclusion of a saga that started at LFA 163.  In July Javier Garica was deemed winner by technical submission, a referee’s decision that Elijah Johns and team didn’t agree with. The appeal left the results as official, but the promotion felt a rematch was in order. Javier Garcia has opted for a chance on The Ultimate Fighter. Elijah Johns will battle Alfred “Freight Train” Walker for the now vacant title. Walker comes in on a three-fight win streak.

The second time was the charm for Elijah Johns to capture the LFA Featherweight title. With his lunch pal and hard hat in hand Johns put in a full day of work following the blueprint his team laid out. A fifth consecutive win by unanimous decision dominated by wrestling. The first round saw “Baby” get the momentum going with three takedowns and kept racking them up. Elijah joins his brother Miles, who’s currently in the UFC as LFA champions. The first set of siblings to have accomplishment winning LFA Titles. 

The co-main event was also primarily taking place on the mat with An Tuan Ho keeping his unbeaten record in tack in a fight full of reversals that could have gone either way. Mansur Abdul-Malik showed brutal power knocking out Allan St-Gelais with a pair of right hand from inside the guard. Mexico’s Lesile Hernandez came in touted as an expert Boxer and walked out with a first round TKO, but it came from unloading punches & elbows on the ground.  The biggest betting favorite on the card started the main card by throwing Carlo Ricci to the ground, Robson Junior secure the first-round submission by arm-triangle choke.

  • Light-Heavyweight: Alik Lorenz (3-1) vs. Monte Morrison (3-2) cancelled Commission pulled Morrison from the fight 
  • Middleweight: Mansur Abdul-Malik (4-0) def. Allan St-Gelais (1-1) by KO (Punches) 1:40 R1 
  • Women’s Strawweight: Leslie Hernandez (3-1) def. Brittany Camozzi (1-3) by TKO (Ground Strikes) 4:58 R1 
  • Lightweight: Robson Junior (5-2) def. Carlo Ricci (3-4) by Submission (Arm-Triangle Choke) 2:01 R1
