UFC Vegas 86 Results, Hermansson Leans on Experience for Decision over Pyfer
The UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts UFC Fight Night “Hermansson vs. Pyfer”. A 14-fight card is topped by a Middleweight showdown. In the main event rising star Joe Pyfer looks to break in the 185 lb. rankings when he faces number eleven ranked Jack “The Joker” Hermansson.
The majority of the conversation around the ninth main event had center around Joe Pyfer. A meteoric rise Ari had the catchphrase among the masses “be like Joe Pyfer” for his do it yourself mentality. The first round saw Pyfer unloading his left hook and looking like he was about to add to his highlight reel. Having weathered the storm which slowed in the second, Hermansson putting Pyfer on his back foot in the third feeding Pyfer jabs and calf kicks till be took the fight to the ground in the final three minutes. Pyfer wouldn’t be able to keep the output or intensity from the first round and become very boxing centric as the fight wore on. Lessons im sure the Philadelphian will learn from. The diversity in his offensive attack and deeper gas tank paid off for Hermansson. The Swedish fighter keeps his number 11 in the Middleweight rankings and got his hand raised after not fighting in 2023.
The co-main event provided a crushing finish as Dan Ige obliterated Andre Fili with an overhand right for the sixth knockout win of his career. Fili brought out a high volume attack forcing Ige to shell up from effortless left hook. Fili attempted to pull Ige into his counter strikes. Ige found his opening dropped a hammer and put an exclamation point on the performance.
A pair of Middleweights also stood out on the main card. A succession of right hands from Gregory Rodrigues score a standing TKO of Brad Tavares and Rodolfo Vieira took Armen Petrosyan down submitting him by arm-triangle choke in the first round to make it back to back wins.
There’s nothing like a first impression and the octagon debut of Carlos Prates will have many eager for his next outing. The Brazilian worked past Trevin Giles calf kicks to start attacking Giles body with his left knee and front kick. Once Giles was focused on protecting his damaged midsection Prates put Giles out with a left hand straight down the middle. A spectacular second impression can also go a long way. Bogdan Guskov rebounded from losing his promotional debut by knocking out Zac Pauga in the first round with a flurry of punches fired from his hips.
