Legacy Boxing Promotions “The Legacy Continues” Results, Hammer Perez Claims first WBC Title

The Legacy building continued for Abraham Perez as he added his first WBC title to his growing collection.

Once again, the Expo New Mexico fairgrounds played host to Legacy Boxing Promotions. The Creative Arts building hosted a loaded eight-fight pro card. Southwest prospects and hometown pugilist were able to showcase their talent tonight. The main event was scheduled for 10 rounds and on the line was a WBC Youth Silver Championship. Fernando “El Leoncito” Diaz made his way from Riverside, CA to try and take that strap back to California. The Hammer Abraham Perez had other plans in mind and displayed fancy footwork, worked his jab to open up power shots that led the way for him. Diaz was no easy battle though he kept pushing forward. After ten rounds the judges unanimously agreed and “the Hammer” add another title to the mantle in front of his hometown once again. 

WBC Flyweight Youth Silver Championship 10 rounds: Abraham Perez (10-0) def. Fernando Padilla (13-5) via (98-92 99-91 100-90) unanimous decision 

 

In the co-main event New Mexico Lightweight champion Aaron “Angle Baby” Perez faced off with Mexico’s Jose Antonio Meza. Perez faced some adversity dealing with the taller longer opponent in Meza. Meza had the biggest moment in the fight knocking down Perez in round fourth. Perez and Meza where evenly technically making the fight very close. We saw eight hard rounds. The judges split decision going it in favor of Jose Antonio Meza.

Lightweight: Jose Antonio Meza (9-9) def. Aaron Perez (11-2) via (73-78 76-75 73-78) split decision

 

The women’s featured fight was all about Katherine Lindenmuth tonight. Lindenmuth pressed forward with success all night as she would start with flurry’s of punches to the body that opened up powerful overhands finally dropping Vellinga almost finding finish late in the sixth round.

Light-Flyweight: Katherine Lindenmuth (6-2) def. Maryguenn Vellinga (4-5) via (60-53 59-54 59-54) unanimous decision

 

Daniel Gonzalez walked down Gilbert Meza with relentless pressure the whole fight. Meza did stood his ground but Gonzalez was the one who inflicting the most damage finding more success landing to the body and head of Meza. 

Super Welterweight: Daniel Gonzalez (5-1) def. Gilbert Meza (1-2) via (40-35 x3) unanimous decision

 

 Andres Rey versus Maximus Moya two was super close with high tension. The fight was a war as Moya and Rey both had huge moments landing powerful shots and combos. Moya fell short in the judges’ eyes and Rey stays undefeated. Reys forward pressure and more powerful shots swayed the judges I believe.

Super Featherweight: Andres Rey (3-0) def. Maximus Moya (3-2) via (39-37 x3) unanimous decision

 

 Ruelas Arceo put on great pace landing multiple combinations on Vasquez across all four rounds. Vasquez never found his tempo and was just one step behind the whole fight.

Junior Welterweight: Preciliano Ruelas Arceo (2-0) def. Gerardo Vasquez (0-1) via (40-36 x3) unanimous decision

 

Elija Martinez led the action as he started with straight body shots down the center. It was much of the same only as the fight went on Martinez did find success landing up top on Elija Sweat causing damage to the eye and nose.

Middleweight: Elija Martinez (3-0) def. Elija Sweat (2-2) via (40-36) unanimous decision 

 

Lechuga found his right hand and landed effectively knocking Sanchez down three times throughout the fight. The corner saw enough and decided to have the commission step in mid round to stop the fight.

Light-Heavyweight: Ryan Lechuga (1-0) def. Michael Sanchez (3-13) via corner stoppage 1:16 round 2
