LFA 179 Results, Antunes takes the Welterweight Crown in his Debut

Arena 1 at Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro Brazil hosts LFA 179 where the LFA Welterweight title is on the line in the headliner. The main event will see Geraldo Neto defending his 170 lbs. championship against Muay Thai striker Vanilto Antunes.

Legacy Fighting Alliance has a new Welterweight champion. Vanilto Antunes has dethroned Geraldo Neto. Antunes stopped the Neto takedown entries forcing Neto to strike. Antunes a Muay Thai black belt found his opening singing a right hand straight down the pipe putting Neto on his backside. Antunes followed to the mat Neto forced to turtle up on his knees being saved by the referee as the title slips from his grasp. A three-win streak and now the LFA 170 lbs. world champion catapults Vanilto Antunes on to the list of top welterweights outside of the two major promotions.

In the co-main event Jose Delano may have earned a third shot at the LFA Featherweight title. Although he won his first two fights for the title the belt never came home with due to difficulties on the scale. But I could see a title shot being in order after Delano’s demolition of Alan Villalba. Delano a southpaw sat Villalba down with a clean jab-cross combination. Following down Delano took the back and with Villalba stuck on his knees secured a rear naked choke for his 13th win in his last 14-fights.
