UFC Vegas 87 Results, Rozenstruik Jabs his way through Gaziev

An early morning at the UFC Apex in Sin City will see a gigantic collision of international proportions.  An 11-fight card is headlined by Suriname’s Jairzinho Rozenstruik defending his number 12 in the Heavyweight rankings against Bahrain’s Shamil Gaziev.

Fighting doesn’t have to be overly complicated. Jairzinho Rozenstruik made his night a simple one. As long as he kept jabbing Shanil Gaziev he keep the fight at long range and in the center of the octagon. Gaziev gave a last gasp effort in the fourth round to get the fight to the ground. Unable to Rozenstruik poured it on his off fence opening up with hooks and crosses. The fight is stopped after the fourth round due to Gaziev being unable to see.

Brazilian Light-Heavyweight prospect Vitor Petrino improved his UFC record to 4-0 defeating big hearted Australian Tyson Pedro by unanimous decision. The stock for Petrino who drew blood with his jab and wore out Pedro with three takedowns in the third round, should continue to rise.

With the title opportunity hanging in the balance unbeaten, Mohammed Mokaev let it all hang out. The normally wrestling heavy Mokaev did implement his takedown collecting three of they but that after thoroughly trying to knock out Alex Perez. The most aggressive Mokaev we ever seen takes a unanimous decision winover a former title challenge putting him on the short list of potential opponents for Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 301.

Unbeaten Usman Nurmagomedov took the risk of had worked his name into main event and title fight conversations so when he was tasked with welcoming unbeaten Bekzat Almakhan to the octagon. The risk reared its head early as Almakhan knocked down Nurmagomedov with a looping right hand. The number 13 ranked bantamweight wisely adjusted his attack dominantly out grappling Almakhan for the next 14 minutes.

Australia’s Steve Erceg third win in the UFC comes in walk off fashion as he punched his way into the flyweight top 10, knocking out number nine ranked Matt Schnell. 26 seconds into the second round Erceg countered countered a succession Schnell jabs with a perfectly placed left hook laying Schnell out cold.
