A soldier, father, businessman, and boxing enthusiast these are just a few words that start to describe Tom “Pops” Crego. On Saturday February 22, the New Mexico community gather together at the John S. Crego gym to honor a man who has mentored, sponsored, supported; the New Mexico Boxers and Boxing scene for many many years.

After seeing the mural, touched by the gesture “Pops” simply said it’s amazing. “Pops” has severed our country, our state, our community; and is as humble an stoic of a man as there could ever be. This mural will stand as thanks for all that and more.

Crego also served as a member of the 82nd,101st, and 173rd . When talking of that time Crego said we lost a lot of people in that war.

Below is the video unveiling of the mural and words about it’s meaning from Ray Lopez.
