FightWorld 45 Set for 14-Fight Night at Revel Entertainment Center
FightWorld 45 is set to bring a packed night of amateur and professional mixed martial arts to the Revel Entertainment Center, with a 14-fight card featuring 10 amateur bouts and four professional matchups.
Doors open at 6 p.m., with the first bell scheduled for 7 p.m.
Headlining the event, Joshua “The Destroya” Montoya will make his long-awaited return to competition against Richard “Black Skeleton” Jennings. Montoya, who weighed in at 145.6 pounds, returns to action after an absence of seven and a half years. Standing across from him will be Jennings, who also weighed 145.6 pounds and brings a decorated background as a fifth-degree Tae Kwon Do black belt.
The co-main event features an all-action matchup as Ozzy “Beast Boy” Chavez takes on Juan Rosales at 125 pounds. Chavez weighed 125 pounds, while Rosales came in at 125.6.
The professional portion of the card also features the much-anticipated debut of Sergio Gutierrez. After a decorated amateur career, Gutierrez will make his professional debut against Ohio grappler Anthony “The Bagel” Jagel. Gutierrez weighed 121 pounds for the 120-pound contest, while Jagel came in at 119.4.
Opening the professional card, Albuquerque’s own Ray “Da Mexecutioner” Vaiza meets El Paso’s Steven Ojeda in a 145-pound matchup. Vaiza weighed 145.6 pounds, with Ojeda checking in at 144.4.
The amateur feature attraction will have championship implications as Empire Promotions amateur featherweight champion Angel “Mr. 100” Gallegos faces Nobody’s Villains fighter Dominic Yara for the 145-pound title. Both fighters enter the matchup with a perfect 100-percent finishing rate, setting the stage for a potentially explosive encounter. Yara weighed 144.4 pounds, while Gallegos came in at 143.8.
The remaining amateur card features a variety of matchups across the lightweight, welterweight and middleweight divisions.
Juan Cuellar meets Allister Macdonald at 145 pounds, while Bradley Tarpley faces Jonah Archuleta at 125. Ashton Oro and Damian Joloma square off at 135 pounds.
At 145 pounds, Gabriel Ramos takes on Martin Taylor, while Zaid Vazquez meets Jordan Dutcher at 135. Nathaniel Doty and Cooper Herbon will compete at 170 pounds.
The 155-pound division will feature Fernando Munoz against Julian Barros, while O’Ryin Guhrke takes on Isaac Foutz at 185 pounds. The amateur portion of the evening closes with a 145-pound matchup between Seth Stevens and Rett Smith.
With a seven-and-a-half-year comeback, a highly anticipated professional debut, a local rivalry, and an amateur title fight featuring two finishers, FightWorld 45 has plenty of storylines heading into Saturday night at the Revel Entertainment Center.
