UFC 194 on December 12th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena will be one heck of a super show to close out the year with 2 of the most anticipated title fights of the year.
The main event will see the unification of the UFC Featherweight World Championship when World Champion Jose Aldo (25-1) takes on interim Champion Conor McGregor (18-2). These two were originally expected to do battle at UFC 189 but Aldo withdrew from the bout with a rib injury. McGregor instead fought and defeated short notice replacement Chad Mendes, with a 2nd round TKO, his 4th win in a row by TKO. McGregor has won 14 fights in a row and is 5-0 in the UFC. Aldo is the only ever UFC Featherweight Worl champion and has won 18 fights in a row going 7-0 in the UFC. Aldo last fought and defeated Chad Mendes at UFC 179 by unanimous decision in the best Featherweight title in UFC history.
The co-main event will see former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold (14-2) challenging Chris Weidman (13-0) for the UFC Middleweight World Championship. Rockhold is 4-1 in the UFC with 4 straight wins all by stoppage including submitting Tim Boetsch, Michael Bisping, and Lyoto Machida. Weidman is 9-0 in the UFC, which include knock outs of Mark Munoz, Anderson Silva ( technically twice ), and Vitor Belfort; who’s the last by to defeat Luke Rockhold. Weidman vanquished Belfort I under 3 minutes at UFC 187, surviving an initial flurry, taking the fight to the ground and pounding out Belfort for his 3rd successful title defense.
