Chandler vs. Henderson 2 booked for Bellator Japan

Bellator MMA has announced the co-main event of the promotions first trip to the Land of the Rising Sun, will be a lightweight rematch; “Iron” Michael Chandler versus “Smooth” Benson Henderson.

Chandler walked away victorious from their first encounter, at Bellator 165, retaining the Bellator Lightweight title by split decision.

Bellator Japan takes place at the Saitama Super Arena on December 29th. The card is headlined by a heavyweight bout between former Pride champions “The Last Emperor” Fedor Emelianenko & Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

Since the first battle Chandler has lost the Lightweight title to Brent Primus. Rebounded with a decision win over Goiti Yamauchi. Solidified himself as the number one contender by submitting Brandon Girtz.  Then became a three-time champ with a unanimous decision win over Brent Primus. Chandler now starts the climb back to the lightweight title after having lost it to Patricio Freire, at Bellator 221.

Henderson is a former WEC & UFC champion who signed with Bellator as a major free agent acquisition in 2016. After having lost three of his first four fights with the promotion, Henderson has won four-fights in a row. Starting with a submission finish of Roger Huerta at Bellator 196, and including decision wins over Saad Awad, Adam Piccolotti, & Myles Jury; Henderson looks to have once again found his grove.
