Anderson – Blachowicz expected to headline UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho
Speculation says the main event for UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho, will be a possible number one contenders’ bout in the light heavyweight division as Corey “Overtime” Anderson faces Jan Blachowicz.
UFC Fight Night Rio Rancho is February 15th at the Santa Ana Star Center in New Mexico.
Anderson (12-4) the number five ranked contender at 205 lbs. is unbeaten over the last two calendar years. Equaling a four-fight win streak. It started with a stretch of decision wins over Patrick Cummins, Glover Teixeira, & Ilir Latifi. At UFC 244 “Overtime” found the noise making finish he was looking for as he derailed the hype train of Johnny Walker. Anderson is a volume striker with a solid wrestling base.
Blachowicz (24-8) is the number six ranked contender in the division whose won six of his last seven fights. The Polish fighter finished 2018 on a four-fight win streak, before a February loss to Thiago Santos. Blachowicz overlooked by many in the underdog role, knocked out former middleweight champion Luke Rockhold at UFC 239. While not a fight of the year candidate Blachowicz defeated “Jacare” Souza by split decision in the main event of UFC Fight Night 164, which took place in the middle of October. While he’s known more for his striking then his grappling, Blachowicz has nine of his 15 finishes by submission.
