“Rumble” gets new Opponent for Bellator Grand Prix Quarterfinals

The highly anticipated meeting between Yoel Romero & Anthony Johnson will have to happen another time.

The first bump in the road for the Bellator light-heavyweight Grand Prix has appeared in the form of Yoel Romero reportedly failing an eye exam and being pulled from Bellator 258.

Tournament alternate, former LFA champion Julius Anglickas will not be taking the short notice fight. Instead, Anthony Johnson (22-6) will face Jose Augusto (7-2). Johnson a former UFC title challenger will be making his Bellator debut and competing for the first time in four years.  Augusto comes in on a five-fight win streak coming off submitting Jonathan Wilson at Bellator 255.

“Rumble” Johnson is not just a knockout artist but is one of the hardest punchers in all of MMA. The 37-year-old training out of Sanford MMA has 16 knockouts and 12 first round finishes. “Gugu” also likes to keep the judges out of his business and has a 100% finishing rate including five wins by knockout.

Bellator 258 is May 7th at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
